KASHI CORRIDOR

A dream project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor is expected to transform the area around the famous temple and make a major difference in the ancient city of Varanasi. The first phase of the project was inaugurated by the PM in December last year. The project connects the iconic temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and the ghats along the river Ganga. It is aimed at ensuring easy movement of pilgrims and devotees between the ghats and the temple. Earlier, they had to pass through congested streets to reach the temple. Spread across an area of about 5 lakh square feet and comprising 23 buildings, the first phase has been built at a cost of Rs 339 crore. The overall cost of the project will be about Rs 800 crore. Over 300 properties have been acquired to implement the grand plan.
